foreskin adhesion with redness

by mcaw, Feb 03, 2001 12:00AM
My Grandson is 6 months old.  His foreskin has stuck to the tip of his penis, stuff? collects underneath and the tip becomes very red.  The Doctor says this is an adhesion and when he is older and has an erection it will rip loose and reheal.  I am concerned that there could be a very serious infection long before that takes place. Should he be seen by a urologist or dermatologist?  OR What?
Thank you

Don't worry, Grandpa!  The doc is right.  The white stuff is a natural, cheesy material called smegma.  It won't get infected.  He'll be fine.  If there's ever a problem, your pediatrician should be able toi head it off, or make a referral if needed.

Best.
