How are you? Fungus thrives in warm, moist areas. It could be that when you submerged it in water, it didn't dry, hence, fungus proliferated. You can dry it under he sun or spray with antifungal sprays. WIth regards to your hand, over-the-counter topical antifungal medications may help. However, without removing the root cause, which is the presence of fungus on the mitt, this will persist. I hope this helps. Take care and regards.
