genital skin irritation

hi, i am 23 years old (male) and i have this problem: the skin around my genitals and anus (but not on them) is redish and it itches very much. it was a little spot at first and it grew bigger. i have this for almost 2 years now. i had unprotected sex with my partner when this started and she had bacterial problems, but i am not sure that this is the cause. i have used just baby powder and i am trying to keep it very clean but it is not healing. please can anybody help me or just tell me what it is? thank you in advance

It can be due to fungal infection or intertrigo. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore.

Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful (apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching please take some over the counter antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed.
