growing mass on neck

Hello, I am a 39 yr old female, with a family history of skin cancer. I have a mass growing on the outside of my neck.. It sort of resembles a mole, but there has never been a mole there. It has no sensation, in the mass itself. It is reddish in color. and is somewhat soft and shiny. I do, however, have some pain around the mass. It has bled from my 6 month old grabbing it, and there seems to be a scablike ring around it. Not sure if it is a scab or dried blood, it is on the side of my neck, towards the back. I have called my doctor, and cannot get an appointment until the first week of March.
