How do I post a question in this website? It's so poorly made. nothing is where you expect it to be. At last... signs that there ARE webdesigners on Mars.

The good doctor isn't here anymore hence no new questions being taken.  Until MH fills it no new questions.  You can elect to use the patient to patient forums.

Ok first of all make sure you verify your e-mail address if you JUST signed up. Now I don't know if I figured anything new out but I kept going to the forums and choosing dermatology and it wouldn't let me post a question... then I went back and clicked on "ask a nurse" and this time I saw a check box or a button or something about "agree to terms and conditions" that I believe was new... I hit that and now the "post question" button appears in a very logical place. -- I still think this website is way overkill in scripting but I felt I should help out others since nobody helped me out.

After two years of moderate to severe cystic acne (but a lifetime of mild acne punctuated by spurts of cystic acne), I have noticed two things-While I'm in my late 30's, "hormonal" acne treatments etc. DON'T WORK and powerful anitbiotics work FAST & best. My most recent expereinces: using a sulfa based drug for non-skin infections has almost obliterated cystic acne in 4, yes 4 days!!!!!!

I'm wondering if sulfa effects the PH of the skin, better than Minocycline, Erythromicyin etc ?
Having a strong interest in homepathic remedies, and having benefitted from them with mild acne, I wonder if the Hepar Sulph and Sulphur in such remedies also alters the PH level of the skin? Perhaps in a similar way? I know I am highly acidic (all of the women in my family are) and can't help but think this is a key factor in my continued acne problem. Thanks!!!!!

A few months ago I had surgery to remove a spermatocele in my scrotum.  About 2 weeks later a fungal infection appeared in the upper thigh area next to the scrotum.  The doctor said it was probably caused by the antibiotics given before the surgery, and he prescribed Nystatin-Triamcinolone cream (Mycolog II).  Now, 3 months later and after applying 2 tubes of the cream over this time period, the fungus has reappeared in full force.  It looks like a large patch of red and yellow blotches.  Is there another medication preferable to the Nystatin?

I am a black female with scalp issues,  I stopped all chemical treatments in 2001.  My scalp is very itchy and flaky.  I have to wash my hair weekly, if not the flaking gets worse and I get scabs and my scalp starts to smell really bad.  I have tried many different medicated shampoos and oils and nothing helps.  I have seen a few dermatologists but they were unable to help me, any advice wold be most appreciated.
