and my skin will break open and have cracks that hurt so bad and they peel and feel so tight-i have used everything available to treat them till i just dont know what else to do. does anyone have any suggestions?
or palms. The blisters burst to leave expanding circular or oval, tender, peeled areas. These peeled areas lack a normal barrier function and may become red, dry and cracked. This can be aggravated by exposure to irritants including water, soap, detergents and solvents. Eventually normal skin forms, but frequently exfoliative keratolysis recurs within a few weeks.
Exfoliative keratolysis does not improve with topical steroids, unlike hand
dermatitis. It is important to avoid irritants. Emollient hand creams especially those containing urea, lactic acid, or silicone may help. Photochemotherapy or ultraviolet radiation treatment may also be used.
