hands and feet are peeling

Hello, I am a mom of a 3 year old who was just treated for strep throat and a week later first his hands started peeling the only way i can describe this is it looks like a dry blister but not filled with any liquid then just starts peeling over and over again first on his fingers now his whole hand. Then after he was seen for that and the doctor said she has seen this before and give it a few weeks the next day his feet started to peel and now they are just peeling and peeling. I think my concern is that it won't go away and could this be from the strep throat i try everything lotion aquaphor, and if it is from strep throat how long will it take to go away...
