I have a rash on my face a little left of my chin. It is reoccurring and every time it comes back it's in the same spot. It is itchy, dry, red, and gets crusty and oozes a little bit occasionally. If i touch it or itch it it seems to get worse. Sometimes I put neosporin on it and it seems to help with the itching and dryness? It is very bothersome and if anyone knows what this might be, what I could do to prevent it, or treat it please let me know, thanks.

Hi,

This could be  perioral dermatitis which presents as  itchy or tender small red papules  that may appear round the mouth, upper lip, chin and cheeks. The surrounding skin may be pink, and the skin surface often becomes dry and flaky. The most common cause is the application of moisturizers, cream cleansers, sunscreens  and especially topical steroid creams or ointment. It responds well to treatment but can recur  at a later date or when the antibiotics are discontinued.  It is important to wash the face with warm water alone. It is best that you have this evaluated by your doctor for proper diagnosis and management. Finish the full course of antibiotics prescribed by your doctor to prevent recurrence. And it is important that you avoid the triggers mentioned above.

Take care and keep us posted.
