with liquid Benadryl. When I eat something I am allergic to, the first thing that happens is that my mouth and throat swells. I take a swig of the liquid anti-histamine and then another. And I rinse my mouth with it. Works fine. But what I don't understand is why your lip problem has persisted after you stopped eating the cereal. Usually an allergic reaction does not last more than two days.
Hello,
For such allergic reaction of the lips also called angioedema, Treatment is by antihistaminics like Benadryl or Zyrtec and steroids. If the symptoms persist then please get it evaluated from a physician as you may need oral or injectable steroids.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
My grandmother developed a nasty skin condition on her hands from using a particular dish detergent. She had the same symptoms you have, but on her hands. No treatment seemed to help. I doubt her reaction was allergic, rather there was something in the detergent that was damaging to her skin. This was maybe 50 years ago, so there may be better treatments now.
