help!!!!

I thought I may have had molluscum on my gential (genital) area because i had what look like small bumps like molluscum, i went to a dermatlogist and was told they were just hair follicles and that some peoples are smooth and some are not do you think the doctor was right in this case??????

Diagnosis of molluscum contagiosum is made on the clinical appearance.  They are flesh-colored, dome-shaped, and pearly in appearance. Individual molluscum lesions may go away on their own and may last  up to 2 or 3 months.  Folliculitis or inflamed hair follicles, on the other hand, is usually associated with bumps (sometimes with hair on the bumps) and may also resolve on its own .  If your dermatologist says it is folliculitis through physical examination, this is more likely case. Always keep the area clean and dry. Try to avoid picking on the lesion to prevent secondary infection.
