herpes or hair folicles

About a year ago I was concerned that I was infected with herpes.  I came down with the flu soon after, then these bumps which I can't really remember having seemed to appear out of nowhere.  I went to go get tested for it, and the doctor said that it wasn't herpes it was just my hair follicles from shaving.  I've never had an outbreak of any kind, but still live in fear that the doctor made a misdiagnosis.  He didn't do a blood test for it, should I get tested again or trust the doctor's judgment?

Hello,
If the doctor has diagnosed it as infected hair follicles after examination, then it looks like that. Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur.
If the symptoms persist then please get it examined from a dermatologist.
