herpes scars

To whom it may concern,
according to my dermatologist, I had herpes on the right cheek close to mouth... I had a complete course of Zovirax( pills and cream) the infection has apparently gone and I still have a scar in the area... my dermatologist prescribed Contractubex for the scar, it's been over a month since i first had this on my face.... any hope to disappear...?

The treatment of herpes scars depend on where the scar is and how deep is the scar. You can use various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids or tretinoin cream.Apply hydroquinone cream on this scar and it should go away in a few days to months.If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.
