hoping my dermatologist was right the first time

ok so just recently ive had unprotected sex.  2 days after that i shaved my pubic region...about 3 days later i notice a sore which looked like an ingrown hair on the top portion of the base of my penis... ive had ingrown hairs before and this is what that looked like.... later became like a zit which i poped.... well after that it became sore and started to heal but still there was a bump there(painful)... so i started freking out and and scheduled an appt with my dermatologist... told her the story she looked at it and said it was definitly not an STD.... she prescribed me a steroidal cream to calm the area down and it definitely help a bit but the next week i still have this bump there and last night ive recently noticed about 1 inch away up the shaft of my penis 2 tiny red bumps and another 1 about 1/2 an inch away on my pelvic region away from the base of my penis... im also using an anti fugal cream to fight jock itch this whole time.... what do u think could my dermatologis have been wrong and this is herpes or something or am i just paronoid?  plz help!!!

Hello,
Although from the symptoms it looks like folliculitis and infected hair follicles and glands due to shaving, yet since you are sexually active, so chances of herpes, molluscum and warts also need to be ruled out. The only way of ruling herpes out is by getting yourself tested for genital herpes. Laboratory tests include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
