how do i know if it's herpes or acne?

about 3 months ago i had an outbreak on my face. it was during finals week, a time when i was really stressed so i also didn't have time to go to the doctor. when i woke up in the morning i felt tingling on the side of my face, about an inch away from my lip. by noon it had developed to be a major outbreak, it looked like 10 whiteheads crammed together. it took it about two weeks to crust and fall. i assume it's herpes since it definitely wasn't acne, i just never heard of herpes on the face. anyways, about 5 days ago i saw a bump right under where my outbreak was, and overnight it had developed to looking like a zit. except, i wasn't really sure if it's herpes or a zit so i tried picking at it and at first it became bloody and then a major amount of goo started coming out so again, i assume it's herpes. i was just wondering if i should go see a dermatologist or just wait for it to pass and if this condition is common and what the treatments are (if there are any oral treatments as opposed to pills).

Looks like type1 herpes simplex from history,quite common and recurrent.Best get confirmed and treated.Acyclovir is also available as creme apart from tabs.
