hpv question

by buddyboy17, Jun 04, 2009 05:53PM
Hi dr.  in october of 08, I had developed small flat warts on the tip of my penis.  I went to a walk in and he did not see anything abnormal but sent me to a dermatologist.  He looked and determined that I had flat warts.  He froze a few off in the middle and then I used aldara for 4 months w/ no sexual contact.  I have since not had any more sexual contact.  In February I went back to the same derm and he looked and said that everything looked good.  It did not seem like he looked for very long so I made him look again and stretched the skin again.  I still have some tiny bumps on the glans near the left side that go up towards the urethra.  Every now and then it seems like they go away a bit, but when stretched I can see them.  Also around the edge of the glans just in the front, I have some more bumps that never went away after the treatment.  They do not look like pearly penile papules as they are not very long and are not very prominent.  they look more like somewhat irregular shaped bumps.  They do not hurt or anything, but I can now feel them when I put my finger over them.  I just met a girl and I am paranoid that she will notice and not want to do anything w/ me.  My dermatologist told me in February that these were penile papules and that I should stop the aldara, which i did.  Since then, the bumps have not changed in shape or spread or gotten bigger.  I think I may be looking at them more closely again because of this new girl.  I had come to grips w/ it a few months ago and was relieved and now I am back to paranoia.  Any help is appreciated because my work schedule does not allow me to get into the derm for a few weeks.  Thanks

Obviously, I can't diagnose with you with certainty without seeing you.  But it certainly does not sound as though you have warts now, or anything else.  Since warts don't typically affect the head of the penis, I'm a little doubtful that they were warts before either, but after treatment and Aldara, the bumps that remain are almost certainly not warts now.  Also, your dermatologist looked and didn't think they're warts.  So it's time to stop thinking about them and move on.  If they're that hard to see, I doubt that you need to worry that a girl will notice them, and it wouldn't matter if she did if they aren't warts....
