Hi

Hydroquinone is a phenol derivative with antioxidant properties that is used as  a gradual skin bleaching agent  to treat such as chloasma, melasma, freckles, senile lentigines and other unwanted areas of melanin hyperpigmentation that may occur due to pregnancy, skin trauma, the use of birth control pills, or hormone replacement therapy.

It is available in various strengths including 3% and 4% creams and sunscreens. However, it should be used only as per the directions provided by your doctor. It is used after a skin test for allergy. Occasional hypersensitivity (localized contact dermatitis) may occur in which case the medication should be discontinued and the physician notified immediately.
Take care
