After a bout of celulitis from and ingrown hair on my jaw line, the skin became dark. I saw a dermatolgist and was told I had hyperpigmentation, and that the skin would return to its normal shade. This has now been 2 years and its no better. Periodically the darkened skin gets very warm, darker, inflammed and a pink halo. It gets very itchy. Then the upper layer of skin lightens and peels. Within the last several months this has happened more often. Now when the patch of skin gets infammed and have more areas on my face that become inflammed. My ears, a spot on my temple, forehead, where my sideburns are and a spot on the other side of my face that I had a dark spot removed about five years ago. All of these spots get inflammed and then peel. I have tried various topical steroids and antifungal creams. The latest being econazole. I was using a sun block daily. My provider told me stay off of everything for 3 days. I will see here this coming Monday.
What can I do?
