I have ichthyosis vulgaris. For 10 years I have used a cream Ammonium Lactate 12% on my entire body. Approx. 4 years ago I noticed a new and perplexing problem. When I got into water my hands and arms turn white, like dead skin. It does not burn or itch or anything but is very unsightly and I am very embarrassed by it. I can only spend 5 or 10 minutes in the pool or washing dishes or shower at a time before things begin to be noticable. The dermotologist are baffled by this and think it has nothing to do with the ichthyosis. What could this be? Anyone have this problem before?
