infectous cyst

I had a cyst on my back that got infected when I got pneumonia. I was on (and still am) several antibiotics and even had the cyst removed. The doctor had the cyst sent out for a culture and found out it is still infected which means more antibiotics. Is there some other way to get rid of the infection? Isn't it dangerous to have it go on this long. I have been fighting the pneumonia pretty much all summer. Although I feel better, I am still trying to get rid of the infection.

Thank you. I did have the cyst removed. Still on antibiotics. Hoping this is over soon.

Antibiotics is the only answer to infected cyst. However cysts can recur and hence you should keep an eye on the area of the cyst. Generally no treatment is required for cysts but they become painful then it means they are infected, then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
