infested cyst

by pet29, Nov 15, 2008 01:58AM
Ive had a cyst on the side of me face for quite a few years. Recently it became infected, so i went to the er and had it drained. They told me that they could drain the infection, but the cyst had to remain inside until everything healed up. After they had drained the infection they packed it full of gauze, which i removed . Upon removal there was still a bit of pus and some of it was quite hard and foul-smelling. I removed all i could see and washed the area with peroxide, then i put some polysporin and a bandage over the incision. The next morning as i replaced the bandage i noticed more of this hard pus stuff, which i removed using the same process. This evening even more came out, and i noticed that the cyst seems to have disappeared. Is the hard pus stuff actually pieces of the cyst? The area doesn't seem to be infected anymore, and is not sore or inflammed. Is this whats happening or is it something else? Should i be worried about this? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
