inflamed glans

by steely01, Jul 05, 2005 12:00AM
Hi I'm hoping you can help me.
I have had two red patches on the glans of my penis now for just over two months.
I have used Canestan which is 2% Clotrimazole twice a day as I  thought the problem might be a yeast infection but that doesn't seem to have cleared the problem. I have no itching, pain or soreness what-so-ever but now the skin on these patches seems to be slightly dry and scaly, particularly after i have had an erection. I have over the past two weeks tried using a non perfurmed and bland moisturiser and though this does seem to help the scaling problem it does come and go but the redness is always there. The red patches cover about 50% of the top of the glans and are only just seperated. Advice would be greatly welcomed.

Rashes on the glans are usually not yeast.  Instead, they are usually eczema or dermatitis.  I suggest you try a cream containing hydrocortisone 1/2% or 1%.  That should clear it up promptly after a few days of application twice a day.  If it does, just stop and resume as needed.  If it doesn't, you should show the rash to a physician.

Best.
