i noticed a bump on my lower vagina, just under it. I havnt shaved in a week so the hairs are growing back. up this bump is sticking out a little and is flesh colored. I think it is a ingrown
hair. there seems to be a black dot or liek a little line on the bump, but im scared that it might be something more, becuase i have picked at it trying to see if it is a ingrown
, causing a fluid-filled cyst to develop. A Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage
(mucus or other impediment) to the Bartholin's ducts (tubes which lead from the glands to the vulva). If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences." However, in your case, a folliculitis is be more likely.
Folliculitis refers to bacterial infection of the hair follicles. This may present as reddish bumps that affect the hair follicles .Folliculitis is contagious and may require topical or oral antibiotics.
Do not pick on the area as this may only aggravate the condition. I suggest that you have this evaluated by a gynecologist first to rule out involvement of vulvar (vaginal lip) structures like the bartholin gland.
