Using a sharp razor, washing the area prior to shaving and shaving in the direction of the hair growth may help prevent ingrown hair. Treatment of ingrown hair especially for more severe cases may require the use of Laser therapy .This may be more expensive but after repeated sessions the results may be more long lasting to permanent.
Breaking the skin and pulling the hairs out may only cause further scarring, irritation and even infection. Ingrown hairs result from frequent shaving or shaving using a blunt razor. The skin may be irritated once the hair grows back. "Ingrown hair is a condition where the hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin. It may or may not be accompanied by an infection of the hair follicle (folliculitis) or "razor bumps" (Pseudofolliculitis barbae)."
