inner thigh rash/pimple - underarm rash

by cchelp, Feb 29, 2008 02:45PM
Dr. I've been dealing with skin "irretations" on my inner thighs and under my armpitts for years.  As i get older (and heavier) it seems to get worse.  Some spots are a browish color, some red, and you can actually pop them, i thought for years that it was acne.  There are some spots that are actually black heads.  This is an extremely embarassing place to have whatever it is that i have.  Please help..i have the same thing under my armpitts, under my breasts..seems to be anywhere that gets sweaty easily.  I've tried powders, they dont seem to work.

Thank you for your time!

Hi,

This could be an allergic reaction to some unknown substance or dermatitis or eczema or due to sweat or friction or folliculitis.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites, keep the area clean and moisturised. Wear lose , comfortable clothes. Avoid scratching or picking at the lesions. Avoid sweat accumulation at the areas.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.
