I've had a papular, vesicular rash that started with dry skin in the interdigital web about 10 days ago. It first spread to other interdigital spaces and in now affecting the balls of my fingers
. There is no crust it's only red, raised and mildly itchy. It seems to be irritated by water and is itches more at night. I went to a dermatologist here, in Sarajevo Bosnia who prescribed steroid cream twice daily and vitamin cream one time a day--the thought was to treat it like contact dermatitis. No improvement after 2 days it was worse. I added on neomycin/bacitracin cream and no worse but no improvement after 4 days therapy. No other lesions on any part of my body. No history of allergies. Healthy individual but weaned baby about same time rash started. Do not know whether or not this is related but my daughter has had a papular rash between her lower lip
for the last 1.5 months. It improves but does not resolve with nivea dry skin cream. She has had a series of colds but even when she is cold-free she the rash remains. Today there is a rash under her armpits
Hi,
Is there a possibility of scabies?
The scabies rash is charecteristically found in the interdigiatal area and almost similar to the description you give.
Only a clinical evaluation would help get a confirmed diagnosis. Why dont you ask your physician to see it and rule out scabies? If he is still in doubt there is no harm in using a scabicidal treatment regimen for a few days and seeing whether the rash responds or not.
Similar rash in your baby also points to the fact that it is infective or contagious. You could also see a paeditrician and ask him to examine and rule out scabies.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
