irritation of scrotum and penis - herpes?

by ashford, Jan 15, 2003 12:00AM
Within the last three days, I have experienced  an itching and swelling of both the penis and scrotum.  The penis and scrotum skin is wrinkled  like that  crazy looking wrinkled dog.  I am not circumsized but the skin is more elongated with a chalky white coloring on the left side.  There appear lesions, blisters or small sores which run both on the side of penis and scrotum.  It appear fully infected.  The fluid which runs is clear and soon becomes sticky.  It is uncomfortable sitting or lying down both itching and  stinging.
I have never had herpes and the last casual sex was about 8 years ago without any sign of std.

I was placed on a sulfa antibiotic for another condition and had an allergic reaction.  Both the sulfa and my discovering this problem were noted about the same time.  While I see that there are various possibilities, I do want to eliminate herpes.
My allergic reation to the sulfa has resulted in red rash and blisters on other parts of the body.  Could this be a sulfa reaction or herpes or another std?

What you are describing is acute eczema.  The oozing could be secondary infection but is more likely the eczema itself.  Eczema causes wrinkling (I like your doggie metaphor.)  Herpes wouldn't be on both sides of the penis and also on the scroyum.  The sulfa allergy has complicated the picture (and your life) but is otherwise irrelevant.

Please see a dermatologist, get yourself on topical treatment, and get a proper diagnosis, the relief of appropriate treatment, and the reassurance to help you stop worrying about STD's.

Take care.
