is this herpes?

by joka_sf, Jan 19, 2006 12:00AM
Hello Dr.

I am a male 28 yr old. I had protected sex with a sex worker in a nevada brothel on Oct. 28. About a week or two after this, I noticed a small redness on the right side of my body about half and inch below my waist line. I believe at some times this red spot was raised and some times was flat. There was no pain or irritation. This red spot stayed there for about 6 weeks and then I noticed that it is raised and I think there were some liquid under it but I am not sure as it was red and I couldn't see the content of it. After 3 days, I saw a small black dot on the bump and on the same day the bump became open
and the content was drained. I noticed this when I saw blood on my underwear. The bump healed after a week. Now it 2 weeks after the bump is healed but the area is still red/brown.

Please note that there was no itching or hurting.

Do you think this is herpes?
If it is, by touching it and touching somewhere else, is there a possiblity that it will be spread?

Please let me know as I am really concerned.

Thanks

It sounds like an irritated follicle, not herpes.  You should leave it alone so as not to confuse the issue and show it to a doctor so you can know for sure what it is.  It does not sound like something that could spread by touching.

Best.

Im so sorry to post here but i desperately need advice...really need some answers or words of knowledge. Here is a little brief history: Around the end of August or beginning of september I had unprotected sex with a guy for about 20 minutes ( one time) and then about 2 weeks later (september 15) I had sex again with a new partner ( my current boyfriend), also unprotected, I know very stupid of me.

Around the last days of October, I developed a very big painful rash in between my buttocks and vaginal lips. I tought at that time that it was irritation from a maxi pad. About a week and a half later the rash started healing, but soon after I developed a smaller rash in the two sides of my vaginal opening, with red painful bumps. I also got this open tear (like a paper cut) right in the area between the vaginal opening and the anal opening. Must i add that this was the same area that I got teared when I had sex before from lack of lubrication.

Up to this day, I still have this rash. It goes away for about 2-3 days and then apprears again, also with the tear. I went to planned parenthood about 2 weeks ago and tested for HSV 1 and 2 and for yeast infection. This last Friday, they called me back and informed me that I was HSV 2 negative, but HSV 1 positive. She made it seem like no big deal, and told me it was nothing to worry about.

The yeast test also came back negative. my doubts are that I still have this damn rash and I do not know what is, it really is ruining me, i have not had sex since then because I am afraid. I was wondering if it might have been too early to take the test and if anybody knows anything about what might be causing this rash. I called the herpes hotline and they said that 2 months is too long for a herpes outbreak.

I am very scared and confused and depressed because I do not know where to turn. I have no health insurance, and do not what to do. If anyone has ever been through this or has any information, please help a desperate girl out. I also add that I am diabetic type 1, dont know if this might have anything to do with this. Also, is there any other condition that might include these symptoms.Thank you so much reading all this and wish me the best of luck. God Bless!!

I know you don't have insurance but your best bet is to consult a physician.  The sort of symptoms that are occuring with your rash seem to indicate herpes but I'm not sure about the time length.  The only real way to know is if you go to a doctor and have a test done.  I also read that if you do have herpes you can consult your doctor about   larrea; red marine algae; hydrogen peroxide; DMSO as a cure.  It is supposed to be a natural cure.  It is in the book called Natural Cures "THEY" Don't Want You To Know About  by Kevin Trudeau.  He also references the book Never An Outbreak by William Fharel.  These are books that are not looked highly upon by the medical society either because the are wrong or because they are very true and would be costing the medical community lots of money if you could just go out and buy some algae and peroxide treatments to cure your herpes rather than treat it with their expensive medicine for the rest of your life.  I have Kevin Trudeau's book.  If nothing else it is an interesting read.  I am not a doctor however, and do not incourage you to try anything on your own!  I have been reading an interesting book about cures from Cancer to Male Erectile Dysfunction to Herpes.  I have no clue if the cures in Kevin Trudeau's book are truely cures but if they are maybe you're in luck!
