is this normal for rosacea?

by Dani1339, May 28, 2008 12:13PM
Does rosacea usually cause a thikening of the skin that flakes over? It won't stop, it will peel off and be red and raw and flake over again and again. Do you recommend I keep using metrogel or do you believe that this could be another condition. The hard spots on my face that peel , feel like they might be scarring and are formingwhat looks like a hole in my face, are these normal effects of rosacea?

I'm afraid that I'm going to look like this forever and I'm hoping that somethig will fix this, I've been wondering if cosmetic dermatology will help, anything to get me back to my good skin.

Hi.

Rosacea may present variably but always with the redness and rash over the cheeks and the nose. As it progresses, it may present with the plaques and scaling. This is a chronic condition and it is best to have this followed up by your physician. You may need oral medications for these. Rosacea may cause severe skin involvement and I do suggest that you discuss other forms of therapy with your dermatologist. Telengiectasias( small spidr like vessels over te face ) and eye problems ( blepharitis) may also be noted with rosacea.

You may consult with a cosmetic dermatologist for this so that you may be aware of other options which may help you.
