it started on my ankle.

i had a rash at the top of my left ankle that started in india.  it was small and quite itchy. it looked like sweat rash. that was about 7 months ago.  after india, i went to vietnam and i developed another small, itchy rash on my left shin. i came back home to canada and i noticed that the one by my ankle started growing bigger. it became red and there were these little tiny red dots around it. i went to my doctor and she prescribed me lamisil (i think she thought it was fungus). i applied the cream as indicated, but it didn't work. both rashes became worse over time with the creams that were prescribed (lamisil then ketoderm then beta-methasone) all of them made them really dry and really itchy or made them bigger. i also tried hydrocortisone cream and the rash by my ankle disappeared but came back over time. the one on my shin now is round and red. none of the rashes are itchy.  i noticed that they both started off as tiny, red dots and proliferate over time. i now have a couple more behind my left thigh (about < 15mm in width and height).  my right leg just started to develop one on its own a few days ago. again it started by my ankle. i haven't been applying any sort of cream on any of them for the past few days for none seem to work.  at this moment, i'm only taking antioxidants every day and drinking lots of liquid hoping to fight off whatever is in my body.
i guess what i want to know is... is this something serious? i've been researching about this for awhile now, but i haven't seen any reliable information online. i've also asked my doctor to refer me to a dermatologist so i can get real answers.  but in the meantime, is this a manifestation of a more serious condition? i've had this thing since april of this year but haven't been experiencing any other types of physical problems.  can someone please enlighten me?
