itch

About a month ago, I wore an undershirt that was new from the department store without washing it. The very next day, my upper body started to itch like crazy. I went to see the dermatologist and took prescribed medicine for about three weeks. Two weeks have passed since I last took medicine, the rash is subtle, but I think it's spreading down to my lower body. I don't know what to do. I can barely see the bumps. But it itches a lot. Please help

Hi,

You could be allergic to some unknown substance or this could be sweat rash or some infection or even eczema or dermatitis.

Do you have any other associated symptoms?

What work do you do? Are your hands exposed to any chemicals or soaps or detergents etc? Do you wear a wrist band or watch ?

You could wash the area several times daily and apply calamine lotion at the sites. Take oral antihistamine medications like loratadine or cetrizine for your symptoms.

Try to find out the cause of your symptoms or any factors that aggravate the rash. Consult a skin specialist for a clinical examination.

Let us know about how you are doing and what your doctor advises.

Regards.

Hi,

You could take some oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications like loratadine or cetrizine and see if it helps with your symptoms. Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions to help soothe the itching.

Have you had allergic reactions in the past? Are you allergic to any specific substances?

You would still need to consult your doctor about the associated symptoms you are having and to rule out a bacterial or fungal infection and whether you need a course of antibiotics or other medications.

Let us know about how you are doing and post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.
