Hi,

Where there any reddish lesions over the ankles or legs associated with the itching?

Does this happen only when you are running?

For how long has this been present?

Is this in any way influenced by the time of day, weather, the distance you have to run, the type of clothes or shoes you wear when running?

There is such a thing as pressure urticaria .This presents as delayed redness or edema of the skin especially those  of  areas subjected to repeated traumatic force.
Maybe you can discuss this with your physician. A thorough work up may also be of help to rule out nerve disorders or nutritional deficits that may cause a tingling sensaton in the extremities that may be misinterpreted as an itch.

Keep us posted.

its caused from capillary expansion.....when you haven't exercised in a while the capillaries in your limbs close and the itch is from them re-opening(expanding)...if you keep exercising they will eventually go away.

hey..i  get this too sometimes. it feels like i just have to stop running and scratch the heck outta my legs and butt. it drives me insane. it's like a million tiny bugs just crawled up inside my pants and are torturing me. my husband doesn't understand! then one day, i thought about maybe an allergic reaction...the pants i wear sometimes, if they are a certain kind of material..or the laundry detergent - that was my other thought. so i've been using all natural, fragrance-free detergent and it hasn't happened in a while. hope this helps.
