itchy arms = BRACHIORADIAL PRURITUS

all itchy arm sufferers....please look into brachioradial pruritus.  My arms, and only my arms, have itched for 10 years.  no rashes, no psiorias, excema etc.  The creams, allergery pills..my list is extensive as to what I have tried but nothing worked. ---------------The only thing that helps are ice packs. -----------------------
Recently,I had an x-ray to check if I had any nerve impingement in my cervical spine - one of the possible causes but nothing showed so I continue to search for answers.  I did get confirmation of the brachioradial pruritus from a great dermatologist who has only seen 3 cases in his 15 years on the job.  He did a biopsy that he sent to UC Davis for confirmation.  The diagnosis was actually a relief as I have been told that it is so many other things.
I hope this helps.  I will keep posting if I find anything helpful solutions.

I have just about had it...after all I've read, I am now going to try a spine specialist to check out the C5 and 6 discs...I go Tuesday to his chiro to get a film made, either xray or MRI and then July I go to see the specialist..I hope these guys have heard of this BRP.  I am also trying the Gaba stuff again...increasing it to like 400 or 500 mgs a day...sometimes I don't care if I overdose, I am so exhausted from this...26 years of it...off and on...not constant which I do question, why?  Seems the more I exercise and move around, the itchier I get...and nights ARE the worst...Xanax is my friend, let me tell ya.....I say to myself sometimes, well, when I die and go to heaven, at least I won't itch anymore....  Best wishes to all...  email is ***@****   Marian is my name...

Wow, I too have been suffering for years with this intense itch on arms.  I thought it was stress related, but I am going to see a dermatologist for help.  The pain is so intense, that the tops of hands appear red.  Arms itch from tops of hands to inside of elbows.  I am currently going through a bout with left arm, and until I have scratched sores on it, it stays.  My right arm is starting to itch now.  Calling doctor asap and trying the vicks.  Thanks for the info.  Ice packs are the only thing that has helped so far.

im so glad this feed is here!!  my inner arm itch was getting so frequent i knew something had to be up and googled it just now.  i have had chronic back spasms, buldging C4-6 and RSD since 2002 but have also been on neurontin since.  tho im not outside much, i just moved to florida 2yrs ago bc of the RSD (was in NYC but the cold and RSD dont mix).  RSD is a nerve pain "syndrome" which basically means i have excruciating pain that isnt consistent with the injury.
anywho, the itching.  ive always noticed random pricks and itching but in the bend of my arms is new but bc of the RSD i have to be real careful when i scratch or im on fire.  its also itchy at the line of my eye lashes, under my breasts and behind knees at times (also have an L4 issue).  it seems where ever the skin is thin.
thanks again for this post and now im off too look up BP - like i need anymore issues - but its better than not knowing whats wrong!  i went thru that with the RSD and was told i was crazy for 2yrs and 3 neuros later.  i dont have the money or insurance to dr hop so thanks again!!

I was diagnosed with BRP five years ago!  I can't wear anything 100% polyester or wool that touches my arms!  I live in Florida and am a golfer. I gave up golf in the summer and never go outside without long sleeves on.  I do pretty well in the winter, but if I have a hot flash here comes the itch again!  Of course ice packs work, but you can't go everywhere with ice packs.  Last week I was soooo miserable I went to a new Dermatologist who prescrided Zoloan to use twice a day.  It was $231 for one small tube.  Also a pill for itching at night!  It is working, but I have now discovered that when I eat hot peppers the itching starts within 10 min.  I love hot sauce and jalapenos.  I WILL be giving that up and see if I continue to see an improvement!  I can't stand for my skin to touch my skin when I am sleeping so have started sleeping in a long sleeve shirt.  Keep my air on 70 year round and that seems to help also.  I use to just itch around my elbows or forearms.  Now it is all over my arms from my hand to my shoulders!  Thanks for everyones comments!  It is very maddening!!
