itchy blotchy arms, and burning to the touch.

Over a year ago I experienced 'Shingles', basically on both arms. Lasted for about 4 months.
Since then I have blotchy arms, and very itchy and burning to the touch. I've tried several different cortisone savs and ointments. None really work. I apply moisturizers post showers daily.
I had biopsys taken during my shingle episode and no particular alergies (allergies).
The itchy blotchy continues and can't figure out what to do.Actually, tried 5 different dermatologists..no positive results.
Any suggestions? and thanks......Maybe some good answers will also help others with the same experience.

From these symptoms the possibility of post herpetic neuralgia needs to be ruled out. The symptoms include burning sensation, numbness, itching and sensitiveity to touch of the area that was effected with shingles. The treatment options include lidocaine skin patches, tricyclic antidepressants, anticonvulsants and opioid painkillers. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist.
