itchy groin area

by sandaugustine, Feb 25, 2002 12:00AM
Well I am 33.I have been worried about my condition for a few months now. I had sex with this girl which was about 1 1/2 years ago and recently I found out she has herpes but also that she has slept with about 5 guys after me(also I have heard that one of them already had herpes).Well anyways when I found out I went and got a through std's test and said I was negative for Herpes, but during the time waiting for the results I worried myself silly, constantly crying(I know big baby).A few days after getting my results 3 small red round(flat)bumps occured right under the head of my penis. It doesn't hurt but is itchy at times. Also my genital area is kind of itchy, like jock itch with no rash. Also I have tiny red bumps on my back that seems to only itch at night. Also I might include that even as an adolescent before sexual activity I have always had an severe itch in the genital area. Also when I was a child I did have chicken pox and shingles, dont know if this plays a part. Also one other thing might be a factor. My scrotum area never really developed into adult form I am currently taking testosterone therapy to live a normal adult life. One last thing since I did worry my self silly a small bump did occur on my lip but went away a day later.Sorry it's so lengthy, just worried to death ,, that I might have Herpes.

Sure doesn't sound like herpes to me.  Herpes produces a cluster of blisters which scab over and last 7-10 days and go away.  Because you're so worried, you're looking minutely at little bumps and itches here and there.

Groin itch is common and not relevant, as is your past history of chickenpox and shingles.

My advice is to show a doctor the bumps you actually see, to get a more definite diagnosis, just to reassure yourself.  (Blood tests aren't very useful for herpes.)  Meantime, please help your own cause by not rubbing the spots.  And for all kinds of good reasons, avoid unprotected intercourse.

Best.

And relax.
