I'm a 23 year old male. About a year ago I noticed my scalp would just become incredibly itchy when my body heat went up. This would have been in December or maybe January. I went to the derm last March and was diagnosed with seb derm. I guess I'm just extremely unlucky. They gave me ketakonazol shampoo or whatever, elidel, and ketakonazol cream. The shampoo seemed to work a bit, but nothing great. I went through the summer kind of itchy at times and then winter came and it seemed to go away a slight bit after I changed my diet. I got rid of most junkfood and sweets. I cut my hair short because this is my last semester and soon I will be applying to various police departments. It is very frustrating because police work can be very stressful and I don't want my head and forehead breaking out everytime I go from a sudden cold to warm spot, and people staring and wondering what the hell is wrong with me. There is no history of this with any of my family and I heard seb derm generally runs in the family. My forehead will break out and it looks like mosquitto bites but without the bump. I do not have any noticable scaling. My chest will sometimes get the same itch, but it wont break out. What is interesting is after a slight workout I can go into an extremely hot sauna and have very little to no itch and no breakouts. Here is my general diet
eggs, alot of water and very little if any soda within a month, skim milk, bran cereal, pasta, ground turkey burgars/regular burgars, fish, lunch meat, white bread, vegetables and fruits such as green beans, baked beans, green peppers, garlic, onions, corn, braccoli, salads, tomatoes, occasionally apples and strawberries, and radishes. I also put oil and vinegar on my salads if I go out to eat. I cook mostly with olive oil.
supplements include centrum silver and fish oil.
I use tresemme 2 in 1 shampoo right now, sometimes teatree mint conditioner, and dermarest psyorisis sometimes. I have used ketakonazal (sp) shampoo in the past.
creams include ketakonazal cream and elidel.
Any suggestions on how I can control it better? It is very frustrating.
Dan
