I've been dealing with this skin problem since i was very young.. Docters could never come to a conclusion on what it was so i did my research online after taking a biology class and coming across Keratosis pilaris. I was fially able to know exactly what i had. Does any one know what type of treatment i should be taking, using or asking for when i see a dermatologist? Docters just seem to ignore the issue and prescribe a cream to put on the skin and ill commit myself to using it for months hoping i'll see some type of result but never do. Please help, Ive been hiding my body in long clothes since i was 9 im 24 years old now and still hide my body all year long because im embarrased to show off any part of my body..
Keratosis pilaris is a follicular condition characterized by appearance of rough bumps on the skin. There is currently no known cure for keratosis pilaris, however, there are effective treatments available which make its symptoms less apparent.Treatment includes tretinoin or Triamcinolone cream or Adapalene, a retinoid medication. Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, creams and lotions containing alpha
hydroxy acids and urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.Unfortunately there are no pills or oral medicines for its treatment.
Pls discuss these options with your dermatologist.
I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
