large white bump on scrotum

by cu2379, Oct 20, 2004 12:00AM
I am a 24-year old male and I have had a fairly large white bump on the surface of my scrotum for quite some time (Perhaps a couple years- I'm not sure) but it does not appear to be doing anything. It certainly won't disappear. It does not hurt. It is about 0.5 cm high off the skin, and about 1 cm wide. It is at the front of the scrotal sac and it is in front of the right testicle. It is soft but with a firm center and it is almost completely white except for a bit of red around the edge of it. I do plan on visiting my doctor soon because I am due for a physical exam. I would like to know: what I am dealing with here, will it ever go away?
Thank you.

You most likely have a cyst, common in the vicinity.  You can have it removed if you want to, but once you get the diagnosis established, as you're likely to do, you can ignore it if you wish.

Best.
