I'll try to be quick here: every single time I get out of the shower (I've tried morning and night) my legs itch like crazy! And only my legs, recently my arms have started. But it is nothing compared to my legs. I can't even get ready in the morning. It's bad. I have tried all different soaps, laundry detergents, I've tried hot. cold, warm water. I've tried shaving and also not shaving! I've tried lotion right after, I've tried an "anti-itch" lotion - nothing, absolutely nothing is working and I need help! There is no rash, no redness - just itching like crazy! The other morning I couldn't even get ready because my hands were constantly busy trying to itch my legs! I just can't take it anymore, I've asked family doctors (not a derm YET) but they have no clue...I've found more help here on the internet...thanks for any advice ahead of time..
It can be due to aquagenic urticaria or cholinergic urticaria. Water urticaria is diagnosed by applying tap water and distilled water to the skin and observing the reaction. Contact dermatitis can be diagnosed from your symptoms and physical examination. Blood tests and x-rays are not helpful.
Treatment includes epinephrine, antihistamines, or cortisone-like drugs. Itching can be controlled with cold packs or commercial topical agents that contain menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, aloe, antihistamines, or cortisone preparations.
To confirm the diagnosis I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
