WHAT IS THE PROGNOSIS OF LICHENIFICATION
Avatar_dr_f_tn
Hello!
Lichenification usually occurs due to chronic irritation secondary to conditions like eczema, chronic chaffing and rubbing.Lichenification usually is aggravated due to an itch-scratch cycle the skin irritation leads to scratching which further aggravates it. The flaky texture may not even go with treatment. There may be permanent lose of sensation in that area may become chronically itchy.Lichenification treatment is designed to prevent permanent damage and to resolve the irritation in the skin so that the patient will feel more comfortable. Treatment includes intralesional injection of triamcinolone, tar or steroid impregnated tapes etc.Seek the opinion of an experienced dermatologist. Treatment and prognosis varies case to case. An external examination is very important for prognosing any condition. I do hope it helps.
Take care and regards!
