Lipoma is a benign fatty tumor. No treatment is needed unless the tumor becomes painful, cosmetically unpleasant or restricts movement. Lipomas are normally removed by simple excision andthe removal can often be done under local anaesthetic. Liposuction is another method of removing the lipoma.
