loss & itchititus

I have an itchy scalp without any symptoms of rash, tenderness, or open soars. i wash my head it is itchy, even when it is dry it is itchy. and yes i rinse, rinse, rinse out the shampoo  & conditioner thoroughly.
also my hair falls out  when i wash my head, but when my hair is dry i don't have hair falling out.
6 months ago i went to a salon to get my hair color to hid a few grays and the stylist burnt my scalp and i had an algergic reaction 20 minutes later as i left the salon, my eyes swelled up my scalp felt tight and burning, and i felt dizzy/faint like i was going to black out, also my heart was racing the indy 500, this lasted for about 5 minutes, my hair didn't fall or over shed until a month later after the incident and only when i wash my head. (i havent colored since the incedent and not intend to either).
I am hoping there is something to stop the hair from falling out every time i shampoo, i only wash every third day since my scalp is oily.., right now i am using Garnier Fructise shampoo and conditioner. i take vitamins religiously, i don't smoke or drink.., only water. i try to eat right, excercise some by walking.
could this be caused by menopause or pre-menopause?
my hair has been falling since last  1-1/2 years., i started menopause symptoms 4-1/2 years ago, if it isn;'t that then what can cause this.

Hi,

This could be seborrhoeic dermatitis. It is a skin disorder affecting the scalp, face, and trunk causing scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin. It particularly affects the sebum-gland rich areas of skin.

Side effects to inflammation may include temporary hair loss. If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles.

Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition. Accordingly a suitable alternative should be used instead.

Among dermatologist recommended treatments are shampoos containing coal tar, ciclopiroxolamine, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione. For severe disease, keratolytics such as salicylic acid or coal tar preparations may be used to remove dense scale. Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide). Pimecrolimus topical lotion is also sometimes prescribed.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for his symptoms and a proper clinical examination if the symptoms persist.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.
