lumps near genitals
About a year ago I had an outbreak of pimple-like lumps around my vulva. I was too freaked out at the time to go talk to a doctor about it, but my boyfriend (whom I'm still with) and I figured that if we used a condom, there would be no worry of transmission. He ended up getting a similar break out on the shaft of his penis. We were both convinced that it was HSV. However, his dad runs the tests at the health center, so I didn't end up getting tested until my annual this year. By this point, I was worried that I'd had something for almost 2 years... However, my tests came back negative. What could the pimple-like infection have been? And why did he catch it if it wasn't an STI?

possible it was infected hair follicles. a bacterial infection can be spread by skin on skin contact
