lymphocytic infiltrate

MY DAUGHTER HAD A BIOPSY ON HER GUMS AT HER FRONT TOOTH FOR A RED, RAISED AREA OF SKIN.  IT HAS BEEN THERE OVER 1 YEAR.  THE BIOPSY DIAGNOSIS WAS LYMPHOCYTIC INFILTRATE WITH ATYPIA.  PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THIS IS AND IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE TREATED.  THE REDNESS HAS DECLINED AND THE AREA IS ACTUALLY LOOKING BETTER.  PLEASE ADVISE.

I am not expert in biopsy reports from oral tissue.  Still, the words you quote just mean that there is inflammation with white blood cells and some of the cells look a little funny.  By itself that just measn there's inflammation, not a growth of some sort.

I urge you to speak to the doctor who did the biopsy, who will be best able to explain all the implications, if any.

Best.
