mole froze, no biopsy! scared

by evajean, Mar 01, 2008 08:27PM
I had a mole, 4mm slightly irreg. I saw derm because it appeared to darken and raise a bit, almost tiny scab. MD said it was seb keratosis and froze it before I could think to argue as I was so relieved to hear those words. I never thought it looked like a seb keratosis, was not waxy, appeared deeper and flat, freckle like on one side, I have seen many in my career as RN and have had one removed myself before. Liquid Nitrogen does not appear to be working, day 4 and almost looks like its going to stay and blister is subsiding. Question is, finally, sorry! Can they do a biopsy after all the damage caused by the liquid nitrogen attempt, and if in fact the mole does fall off can they biopsy the area where it was?
This was done at a very reputable derm group large city hospital, and when I looked up the MD, she was not listed as board certified and was only there a few months, I know I should have researched prior, however assumed great hospital, great group of dermatologists.
