The edges that look 'jagged' are not flat spreading edges (like those that you see in melanoma pictures) They are actually also elevated parts where the mole
has grown back after being nicked, torn, aggravated. (It is almost directly between my breasts so it's an easily aggravated area)
It is about 6mm big...when I measured with a tape measure...but it has never been a 'small' mole. It seems to be smaller than a pencil eraser though-- or about equal to.
According to some research I've done, nodular melanoma (the most aggressive kind) *typically* <--not always-- arises from a normal piece of skin and enlarges rapidly. This is not the case for mine.
As far as superficial spreading skin cancer- that usually appears flat, jagged, etc. Well obviously this is not the case here either.
What concerns me is A) the color. I remember it being oddly colored as a child...but when I look at it in the sunlight, it seems to be brown AND black...
It does not hurt or itch (when I catch it or tear it it hurts obviously)
I have an appt with my primary care doctor to remove it Wednesday...however, I am going to try to call a dermatologist in the morning to see what they can do/say.
So with this information and the picture...what do you all think? My husband and I are expecting our first child in March and I am so scared that I have some horrible form of skin cancer. Maybe I didn't catch it in time! Maybe I didn't notice changes or something :-( Thanks in advance
