mulloscum contagiosum

mulloscum contagiosum

Hello.  About a year ago my dermatologist indicated I had mulloscum contagiosum on my pubic area.  I am a 35 year old male.  He froze the infected areas and it cleared.  About a month ago, I have noticed that I have a couple of small skin tags in my pubic area, and five or six very small red nodules that go in a straight line down my pubic area and then where it hits the scrotum, a very small cluster of 6-8 pinhead size nodules (total area maybe 1 cm).  It does not itch or burn.  Is this a recurrence of the mulloscum contagiosum?  Or could it be something else?  Are there over the counter treatments if it is the mulloscum contagiosum?

It does not sound at all like a recurrence of molluscum contagiosum.  Skin tags are common in the groin, as are cysts in the midline.  Please don't irritate the area by applying over-the-counter wart medicines.  Instead, show the spots to a doctor to find out what they are.  If some of the tags annoy you--assuming that's what they are--you can have them burned off.  or you may decide just to leave them alone.

Best.

A few years ago I had molluscum contagiosm. I did the same thing, had them burned off and it cleared up very nicely.  Then about nine months after that incident it reappeared, but much more mild the second time.  I did some research and found that is quite common for it to reappear approximately nine months after the first appearance-- a "final encore" if you will.  I took care of that with the same treatment and that was the end of it.
I'm not saying that you have is a reoccurrence because who knows what's really going on, but I just wanted to share that experience with you
