my mother has swollen red itchy eyelids

Hello,

My mother has has this itchy red swollen eyelids for a month. One doctor said it was yeast, now last night
another doctor said impitego. She's been giving a antifungul cream. Have you ever heard of anyone having
this type of problem especially on the eyes. Before her eyes were red, they started cracking in the outter corners,
then they became so itchy, that it was hard for her not to scratch.

Has she been assessed by an ophthalmologist?

If not, I suggest an ophthalmology consult for this as this will need a complete eye examination. This may be a case of blepharitis. Blepharitis may be due to a bacterial infection. It may also be associated with seborrheic dermatitis . Seborrheic condition my present with some degree of scaling in the area. The scaling may be noted in the eye lashes. Is this applicable to your mother's case?
