my penis is itching for years

I have itching on penis for years. I tried a lot of ointments nothing turned out helpful. If if shave the hair on my penin, itching will stop for 2 days and it will come back again. I am feeling so embarrassed, please suggest me any remedy.

Thanks for the suggestion. I would like to let you know that I don't shave too often and there are no rashes I can see. I feel itchiness on my balls section under my penis. I don't think so its because of shaving, this was irritating me for years. Please tell me what to do.

Where exactly is the itchiness present?

If these involve the groin area which is rich in hair follicles, then folliculitis may be a differential here. If you have the habit of shaving the area, then this may be razor burns or pseudofolliculitis barbae. Shaving may increase the chance of getting folliculitis as the skin may be broken or damaged. Other differentials will be a fungal infection and dermatitis.

Try to avoid frequent shaving of the area. Use only sharp razors for shaving and keep the area clean and dry most of the time.

Is there any visible rash in the area?
