My son is 2 years old. Since he was 2 months old, he was diagnosed with eczema.
It is TERRIBLE. We have had to do chronic high strength steroid cream basically DAILY to make him comfortable.
I have tried every thing known to man, wet wraps, no detergents, no soap, you name it, we have tried it...changing his diet, elimination diets, etc....
I am worried about chronic topical steroid use.
I keep a calendar of the creams we use daily & for example this month
he has had fluticasone cream for 2 weeks & desonide cream for almost 1.5 weeks. So basically he has had a steroid cream on his body for almost 1 month solid. I stopped for 3 days in the middle, to give his body a break, he was miserable, didn't sleep, got open cuts
what else can I do??? We do anti-histamines at night. However, if we do the cortisone creams at night than we don't have to use the anti-histamines b.c the cortisone relieves all his symptoms.
Also, how much is TOO much for steroid cream?? I have not noticed any topical side effect, like thinning of the skin. We don't put the cream on his palms/face/groin/buttocks area, but he almost always requires it on all 4 extremities
get almost the size of large gum balls ALL OVER, inguinal, arm pits, scalp, neck...etc.....I get scared that maybe his chronic itching is actually lymphoma vs eczema...b.c he never gets better.
