new raised bump and concerned

by jennifer80, Apr 01, 2007 12:00AM
I am just curious as to a new bump i noticed on my hip, kind of in the area we refer to as "love handles"  It originally started as a bruise, very small and about the size of a eraser, it was tender to the touch when i noticed it and i forgot all about it until two days ago.  It now has a very wierd appearance...it feels like a knot, very tough.  the top skin is kind of see through and underneath it appears to be blue-black. Around the knot it is red and looks irritated. It is raised slightly. It also looks as if there is a white head like you would find in a pimple at the top of it.  it is a tad bit sensitive when my pants or purse rub it, but other then that i can not really feel it.  Do you have any idea without seeing it what it could be? I am not too concerned but scheduled a doctors appt just to ease my mind.  Until then i am very distracted by it and its strangeness.
could it be the nodular melanoma? some other form of skin cancer? anything to worry about?

i looked around the internet and just started to wonder.
thanks

It sounds like a clogged pore that got irritated.  I suggest you just leave it alone so the body can reabsorb it, and apply nothing special to the area.  The doctor will be able to reassure you definitively, but I don't think you need to worry about nodular melanoma.

Take care.

To: PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I have a bunch of flesh colored light "goosebump" type bumpy rash above both of my elbows. At the same time I got a pimply rash on my face that turned into just red bumps. The face does not itch, neither does above the elbows....what could this be?? I have had it over a week now. The face has partially cleared up, but the elbows seem to have gotten a little worse. I had fellation w/o ejac with a guy in Jan. Could this be an STD? I was tested soon after the event and all was neg. Maybe it was too soon to b tested??? Thanks
